May not have spelled it right but I heard only once on the news that one of the ronnets died last week. Anybody know who? I go back quite a ways and remember the ronnets with phil spector.
awww, i don't know who but that's sad!. i also know the ronets through a friend who always plays there music, they are very good. on that subject of old singers, i love the andrew sisters. :d
It was, according to a googling I just did, Estelle Bennette. Here's where I got it from:

While I'm not quite old enough to have remembered bands like that I love fifties and sixties music that produced by Phil Specta among them. It's always incredibly sad to hear of news like this. May she rest well and her family, friends and loved ones find the solace they need at this sad time.
Cheers,
Simon
Thanks for the info. the family must have wanted to keep the news private because I only heard the item once and had not caught the name. One thing about the '50 and '60 music is that the singers had to know how to sing and play instruments because the technology today was not around then. The musicians only had voices and instruments to bring us their talents.
Absolutely right. A lot of it, as far as I'm aware, was done in very few takes as well, which is doubtless why you can hear the odd mistake even on commercially available tracks. Then there's the structure of the melodies, lyrics or harmonies etc. They actually wrote and performed back then.
Cheers,
Simon
